CACHING IN UNIQUE LOCATIONS

CEMETERIES

APRIL 13, 2008

Older cemeteries can be haunting, peaceful, beautiful and full of history. While out caching on April 13, 2008, I visited a few of the more interesting cemeteries in Cook County. The first cemetery was Mount Carmel Cemetery in Hillside. Mt. Carmel was concecrated in 1901 by the Archdiocese of Chicago.

The cache that lead us to Mt. Carmel was . This cache took me first to the family crypt of Antonio Lombardo. Mr. Lombardo was a member of the Mafia with Al Capone. Following finding Mr Lombardo's crypt, we received direcrions on how to located the family plot of Al Capone.

Much history is known about the gangsters of Chicago and that is not want this page is mean to be. This page is simply a way to show some of the beauty that is around the mafia and the cemeteries.
